Alumni News Round-Up: Week of March 3, 2018
Here’s our round-up of alumni news from the week of March 3, 2018:
- Wren Elhai (’04), press-attaché for the U.S. Embassy in Kazakhstan, is the fiddle player for the Astana Bluegrass Survivors, a band bringing American music to the heart of Eurasia.
- Amy Rector Verrelli (’99) just returned from a research trip to Ethiopia where she served as part of the Ledi-Geraru Research Project that in 2013 discovered a fossil of the earliest member of the genus Homo, pushing back the origin of humans’ genus to 2.8 million years ago.
- The New Yorker calls Lucy Dacus’ (’13) HISTORIAN “smart but unpretentious, emotional but unsentimental, funny but seriously ambitious.”
- Akili and Me and Ubongo Kids, two educational children’s cartoons created by Nisha Ligon (’04), recently began airing in Zambia.
