Thanks to a generous grant from the foundation, Dickson Benesh was able to attend the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference in Boston, MA in early March.  Mr. Benesh is pictured here with Michael Lewis, the author of Moneyball: the Art of Winning an Unfair GameMoneyball is one of the texts Mr. Benesh teaches in his Baseball Sabermetrics seminar class.  This unique conference also included talks by noted authors such as Malcolm Gladwell, Nate Silver, Stephen Dubner and Adam Grant, although the highlight for Mr. Benesh was meeting Roger Bennett of the soccer show ‘Men in Blazers.’  Mr. Benesh also ran into alumnus Jesse Sultzer (’99) who is now doing data analytics for the Stanford women’s volleyball team – they won the NCAA championship last year!
