Due to the generous support of the Foundation, last week John Piersol travelled to Austin, TX to attend SXSWEDU, an education conference held the week before the larger SXSW festival. While there he had the privilege of attending a wide variety of workshops and keynote events, including a look at the future of education with former Florida governor Jeb Bush and WaPo journalist Laura Meckler, a discussion of American Reconstruction, its rollback, and the implications for today with Harvard Professor Henry Louis Gates, Jr and PBS President/CEO Paula Kerger, and an interview by Dan Rather with Parkland survivor and gun control activist David Hogg. He also managed to grab a true Texas BBQ feast with fellow alum Al Harris (’02) who works as a reporter in the area!
