Grant Spotlight: John Marshall House

A grant from the MLWGS Foundation covered the entry fee to the John Marshall house for Mr. Wilkes' Historiography students at the end of September.  John Marshall, the fourth Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States, built the house in what is now downtown Richmond and lived there for 45 years until his death in 1835.  In his role as Chief Justice, he was instrumental in shaping the Supreme Court into what it is today,

The Foundation recently purchased an AxiDraw pen plotter for use in Ryan Webb's "Explorations in Mathematical Art" seminar.  The AxiDraw can work with computer code to make digital art come to life as "hand-drawn" ink on paper.  Ryan has a long-held interest in the intersection of math and art, as his creative work with 3-D math modeling has demonstrated.  We already love the first piece of digital art produced by the AxiDraw! The mentorship program and the specially-designed senior seminar classes are some of Maggie Walker's most remarkable offerings for students.  Senior Showcase is the culminating event for both courses of study.
