Grant Spotlight: Songs for Janie

April 18, 2019 / Catherine Nicholas / Spotlight - Grants

One of the things that makes MLWGS a special place to learn is its location in the heart of Richmond.  It’s an easy walk to the Firehouse Theatre, which just hosted four performances of Songs for Janie, a musical interpretation by Tamara Wellons of Zora Neale Hurston’s Their Eyes Were Watching God.  The Foundation funded a grant request from English Department Chair Lisa Williams to cover the cost of 35 student tickets to give students the opportunity to enrich their understanding of the novel.

Gifts to the 2018-19 Annual Fund support everything we do.
