Cultivating resources to enhance the educational experience for all MLWGS students.

MAKE YOUR GIFT TODAY!

From the Director

Since our first class of students crossed the stage and collected their diplomas 30 years ago, donors like you have been an integral part of their education. Your generous support has allowed us to augment a stellar Maggie L. Walker Governor’s School academic experience with lots of meaningful “extras” that set our school apart.

In these pages, see how your dollars are broadening academic opportunities for our highly motivated and gifted students. Through unique educational opportunities and cultural experiences, we make learning even more personal and enriching for each successive class.

IN ENHANCEMENTS

Through dollars raised from parents, alumni, alumni families, and the community, the Foundation has provided more than $2.5 million in enhancements since its founding to support student travel, faculty professional development and continuing education, assistance for students in financial need, and many more transformational opportunities for students.

MORE ABOUT OUR IMPACT

I would like to thank the Maggie Walker Foundation for funding my trip. This was my first time out of the county, and it was an amazing experience. I got to meet new people and make new friends and got to see a place that I’ve dreamed of going to one day. This was all possible thanks to you and the Foundation!

Dragon, Class of 2025

As someone who is deeply fascinated by the Japanese language and culture, the opportunity to attend Japan Bowl was incredible. From the studying process to the competition and the culture workshops, the entire experience was something I truly enjoyed. Being able to test my knowledge, meet new people, and immerse myself in Japanese culture gave me even more motivation to continue my Japanese studies.

Dragon, Class of 2025

I wanted to thank the Foundation for providing funds to attend the Fluency Matters conference. The conference was incredible! It inspired me to start this year differently in each level by focusing on communication instead of form (grammar) and so far the materials and ideas from the conference have exceeded my expectations. I am so grateful for the support that the Foundation provides teachers for such incredible growth and learning opportunities.

Kristen Macklin, German Teacher

Thank you for the MLWGS Foundation’s support of the Polarpalooza trip to Ohio State University. We got to speak with renowned scientists at the Byrd Polar and Climate Science Center, visit the ice core freezer, and see the polar rock repository. We also had the chance to visit the Orton Geological Museum to see lots of fossils and learn about geological history. We all really enjoyed the trip!
