Fundraising Gala

The 25th Night of the Dragon will take place on Saturday, February 28, 2026, at The Flo and Tony Guzman Community Center at The Faison Center.

The Annual Night of the Dragon Auction and Gala hosted by the Foundation is the single largest fundraiser for the Foundation, MLWGS Booster groups, and the PTSA! MLWGS supporters are encouraged to support the Night of the Dragon by attending the live event, bidding online in the silent auction, donating items and experiences that can be auctioned off, and serving as event sponsors.

Last year’s event raised more than $70,000 for our Dragons. We look forward to another evening of fun in support of our Dragons this year.


Tickets will go on sale in January 2026. Can’t make the event? Be sure to Register on the Auction site to bid from anywhere. Online bidding will begin the week before the event.

REUNIONS WEEKEND

Each year, the Foundation helps coordinate events for our classes celebrating 5-, 10-, 15-, 20-, 25- and now 30-year Reunions. A highlight for Alumni celebrating their 10-year Reunions is receiving their 10-Year Letters to Self, which the Foundation coordinates during their senior years and returns at the 10th Reunion.

2025 Reunions Weekend took place September 26-27, 2025.

Alumni from all classes enjoyed Bottom’s Up Pizza on Friday evening (7-10pm) for a pizza buffet with cash bar sponsored by the Governor’s School Foundation and Alumni Office. This annual tradition is a great chance to reconnect with classmates and other alumni from across the years.

Alumni of the Classes of 1995, 2000, 2005, 2010, 2015, and 2020 celebrated their reunions with events on Saturday.

Class of 200o–The 25-year class reunion celebration was held Saturday, September 27, at Vasen Brewing Company. Class of 2005–The 20-year class reunion was held on Saturday, September 27, at Legend Brewing Company from 6:30-9:30pm.

Class of 2015–The 10-year class reunion was held at Bingo Beer and featured the returning of 10-Year Letters to Self. Letters not picked up that day will be mailed to the addresses on file for all ’15 alumni who wrote one.

ALUMNI SHOWCASE

Semi-annually, 50+ alumni return to MLWGS to speak with current students and give them a glimpse of life after the Governor’s School. The Foundation works closely with an alumni steering committee to put on this meaningful and fun-filled event. Planning of the 2026 Alumni Showcase will get underway this spring. DIRECTORS CIRCLE

Each year, the Foundation honors our major donors at the annual Director’s Circle event. The evening allows us to share a bit about all the amazing things our students and teachers are able to do thanks to donor generosity.

The 2025 Director’s Circle will take place on Thursday, December 4, and honor all donors who gave $750 or more to the Foundation during the past year. This is a wonderful chance for Foundation supporters to hear directly from teachers and students who benefitted from their generosity.

GRANDPARENTS AND SPECIAL FRIENDS DAY

Each spring, the Foundation invites students to share MLWGS with their Grandparents or other significant persons during this beloved event. Grandparents and Special Friends are invited to visit campus to hear about our wonderful school and enjoy a reception and school tour with their Dragon(s). The Foundation will begin gathering contact information from Dragon families for invitees to this special event in February 2026.
